Honey and Clover was written and illustrated by Chica Umino. It was published in CUTiEcomic by Takarajimasha, and Young You and Chorus by Shueisha. The series won the 27th Kodansha Manga Award for the Shōjo category in 2003.
Viz Media published the North American edition of Honey and Clover as well as featuring the series in their magazine, Shojo Beat. The series has also been licensed by Kana in France, Tokyopop Germany in Germany, and Bongkoch Comics in Thailand.

Takarajimasha edition of volume 1
The first volume (ISBN 4796620885) of Honey and Clover was originally published by Takarajimasha in January 2001[1] under their "Wonderland Comics" label. It was also featured in their magazine, CUTiEcomic from June 2000 to July 2001.[2]
The publisher, Shueisha took over the series, when CUTiEcomic stopped publication. They subsequently republished the first volume and serialized Honey and Clover in Young You from November 2001 to November 2005.[2] Shueisha closed Young You on October 8, 2005[3], moving Honey and Clover to Chorus. The series was published in Chorus from February to September 2006. Shueisha published all ten volumes of Honey and Clover under their "Queen's Comics" label.[2]
Volume 8 was also released in "Limited Edition", which included another book, "Hachikuro Karuta" (ハチクロかるた). The cover featured a blonde, Shinobu Morita with his Oscar. Volume 9 came in "Limited Special Appendix", featuring a magnet of Midori-chan.
